Turns out Sir Bonar's wife Euphorbia takes a keen interest in Etruscan antiquities. He has therefore asked us for more details about this

It is organized by LAit S.p.A. on behalf of the Lazio Region that will be held in Rome in October 20 -21-22, 2008, (www.esiig2.it).
It is a very important initiative, that follows the path started in Valencia in November 2006, in occasion of “the first European Summit on interoperability in the iGovernment” (http://www.esiig.gva.es/) and carried on with the “Interim Conference on Interoperability in the iGovernment” held in Rome in October 2007 (http://www.towardsesiig2.it/conf_interop/).
ESIIG2 represents an unprecedented occasion to develop new strategies, relations and synergies with representatives of the European Commission, of the national and regional governments of Europe, of the Research field, the Academia and experts of the ICT sector.

  The most important aims of the Summit are :

·         Analyzing the European Interoperability Framework produced by IDABC, as a model for the adaptation an comparison of the single European region frameworks for Interoperability in Europe;
·         Verifying the state of the art of Interoperability in Europe;
· Involving International and national stakeholders on interoperability, for the definition of the new priorities and the realization of more innovative and efficient electronic services.

The event is organized under the patronage of Mme Viviane Reding, member of the European Commission for the Information Society and Media, and by the CISIS, the Italian Interregional Center for the Information and Statistical System.

With the collaboration and the support of:
·         ePractice, the European portal created for the professional community of eGovernment;
· i2010 EU Strategy for Information Society
· SEMIC.EU of which ESIIG 2 is Certified SEMIC.EU Associate.

All the information about the Summit are available on the website www.esiig2.it produced in 4 foreign languages (Italian, English, French and Spanish).
Essential that Sir Bonar should attend, accompanied by Lady Neville-Kingdom.

New synergies... how exciting!

The Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) became less bad as it progressed to its enactment, and OFCOM has done its best to limit its impact in the UK. Chris Marsden could give you a detailed update!
