In a few short years, Britain has stormed up the Surveillance Society league: We now rival Russia and China. Databases; Biometrics; ID cards; Tracking; More CCTV cameras than the whole of the rest of the EU. Did we choose this? Does this make us feel safer?

This is a great wave of stuff…credit to Richard Thomas. I suppose the Wibbi is that this stuff gets played into teh political agenda…

Wibbi: More public servants had the courage to “tell it like it is.”

(I note that a previous Government e-Envoy has been hired by a potential supplier to the ID scheme.)

Wibbi: The “free” press were not blinded by government ‘spin’ and faked statistics.

Wibbi: That we learnt even just a little from history.
