Kable’s competitors over at e-Gov monitor have done the sensible thing and posted up a list of most popular government web sites (see below). It uses data from Hitwise. There are other sources of raw web data like Alexa, and services to show where your users come from like ClustrMaps (which Robin W put me on to and which we show on Ideal Government/Europe).

JobCentre Plus takes top honours followed by the Met Office. DirectGov sneaks in ahead of the 1901 census (are people STILL into that?)

The point this underlines is that in Web2.0-world automatic raw feedback on what happens on the web will be available in abundance, for free. We just have to listen, interpret it and change what we do accordingly. It all helps. And meanwhile Business Link has gone ABC audited, which seems eminently responsible.
