Hello everyone! William kindly invited me to write for this blog, and I’m hoping I can add something useful to the debate on the ID Card bill and related digital identity issues, which seem to me to be of huge import for all of us.
My personal blog, weaverluke, is primarily concerned with the topic of identity, digital and otherwise; I am also initiating, with some friends, an open-source project called Community Fabric, which we hope can make a tangible and practical contribution to the social or “identity” net. Community Fabric will give people a framework and tools to manage and integrate their creativity and identity within community contexts. It is conceived very much in the spirit of “emergent democracy”—a crucial counterpoint, in my view, to a more direct engagement with traditional government (also vital of course) such as is being fostered here.
One possible lead for internationalising this aspect of the identity debate is Jaco Aizenman’s initiative to build a dialogue with the Costa Rican congress about the human rights aspects of digital identity. Jaco is involved in Identity Commons amongst other organisations. I will certainly point Jaco in this direction, as I know he is keen to hook up with identity thinkers in Britain…

Luke, several Costa Rican people (Carlos Chinchilla, Juan Marcos Rivero, Manfred Pino, Francisco Campos, etc) want to exchange UK people, and I thank you and William for being the bridge.
Hopefully Liverpool defeats Milan, next May 25 in Istanbul, and it can play the World Final in Japan, December 2005, where a Costa Rican team, Saprissa, already has classified.
The Saprissa players who want it will have a *virtual personality* which may include their *Integrated Medical Record*. Another application of the *virtual personality* can be an *i-name card* that players can give to other players that they choose, and in that way they can be connected for life, even if they change emails or telephone numbers.
Sounds interesting… and fun!

Yes – I’ve had some mails from Jaco today which I’ll paste up. – W
