The video clips on the MoD web page: Operation Garron, clearly show the effective help delivered by the Royal Navy. I particularly recommend the clips on purifying wells, refloating fishing boats and rebuilding a bridge. In an age of hi-tech “button pushing” it is good to see what the RN can still do.
Seeing these RN personnel at work also helped some Sri Lankans over their deep shock following the Tsunami. My previous posting explained the great value of this type of practical help, when delivered promptly.
My Ideal Government must be able to respond promptly, effectively and compassionately to crises, even when they occur at inconvenient times.
Thank you for pointing this out. What a relief to have the MoD doing something of which we can be unequivocally supportive.
